Every human culture is supported by a skeleton of essential values. Like a living creature’s bones, this system is easily felt but cannot be seen.
In this series of multimedia experiments, white culture’s particular system of values, which includes, among other things, hierarchy, analysis through categorization, and individuality, is interrogated through performance.
History has demonstrated that the value system underpinning white culture, which is also my culture, has an incredibly destructive, predatory capacity. Intentionally bringing these concepts into the physical realm opens new opportunities for critical thought, dialogue, and sometimes even humor in the service of positive demolition and reimagination.
